This is another fine example of how to say all of the things that we, the people, want to hear, but none of the things that would challenge our fundamental paradigms ...and actually save us from extinction. Specifically, Chris Williams talks about significant increases in the taxes collected from the wealthy and from major corporations. However, he gives no indication of how we would MAKE them pay those taxes, considering that they have more power over us than we have over them, at this point. Obviously (to me, at least), real change is going to require much more radical, fundamental, systemic changes in our global economic system and the national governments that are currently controlled by (as opposed to vice-versa) our global capitalist economy. Youre going to see a lot of these kind of faux calls for economic change that, underneath a thin veneer or faux radicalism, amount to nothing more than begging the powers that be to stop their most egregious acts of destruction, but, at the same time, to keep the gasoline in our tanks, and keep cranking out those new gadgets and propaganda-filled entertainment, that we have become so self-destructively dependent upon. ...and, whatever else happens, we DEFINITELY dont want to hear anything that hints at the need for us to reduce our energy consumption and live simpler, lower-technology lives. youtube/watch?v=QfYPinlnmgg
