This is day 16 of my Monarch Chrysalis stage. Everything I have read says they go from 10 days to 14 in this stage. I still have hope for them,but it is fading. Looks like this year is a learning process. Next year as soon as I see a monarch caterpillar Im going to grab it and put it in an aquarium on my porch. Out in the wild there are too many variables. Apparently wasps can lay eggs on the caterpillar and kill it when its in the Chrysalis stage. I had 5 caterpillars on my milkweed. I only have two chrysalis now. The other three disappeared. My milkweed now have dark blackish leaves and are a fly haven with bees and wasps also. Next year Im going to space my milkweed apart and grow in several locations in the yard. My heart is heavy but Im not giving up,by any means!
