This is exactly whats wrong w/our system. Instead of doing the proper work in seeking out perpetrators of crimes against humanity such as the ones for which these men were falsely accused and convicted, officers in whom a public trust has been placed by the City of New York - who were acting either on pride or under pressure - all but circumvented their jurisdiction as prescribed by the law in order to procure said indictments and convictions. Indictments which, after review, ended up being wrong anyway. But thats not even the problem Im referencing. The real problem is that, because time has made it impossible to hold responsible all the people involved in this series of bad indictments and erroneous convictions, these falsely accused men are now going to hold the entire city responsible to the tune of millions of dollars. People who were in no way, shape, or form, involved with this gross injustice are now going to be held financially responsible for the stupid mistakes of one group of individuals. And trust me, dont think for a moment that I think they dont deserve the money; anyone who would feel comfortable locking me away for several years on a trumped-up charge better hope that I won a few million to stop me from finding the people responsible and helping them to an extended and personal ass kicking. But because we as a society are ignorant enough to allow the powers that be to dictate that this is the only way that we can serve retribution for the transgressions of others, because we have been bamboozled into somehow equating money with justice, or equating money with anything other than its original intended purpose, which in and of itself is dubious at best, were being left with bills that we shouldnt have to pay. All because the people who deserve to get in trouble for this SNAFU cant or wont. This is beyond ridiculous. Its an epidemic. ow.ly/3vMAN6
