This is extremely important. There is a bizarre, widespread belief even among many leftists that war is an overall economic stimulus. This is complete nonsense and theres no evidence for that whatsoever. The classic example is that WW II is offered as the reason the US economy recovered from the Great Depression. Except that a boom was clearly on almost 2 years BEFORE Pearl Harbor. That myth has arisen specifically to deny the efficacy of the New Deal. And oddly enough it is repeated by many leftists. And nobody can explain to me why widespread death, destruction and disruption are stimulative. Or point me to any other war that stimulated any economy.
