This is complete nonsense and theres no evidence for that whatsoever. The classic example is that WW II is offered as the reason the US economy recovered from the Great Depression. Except that a boom was clearly on almost 2 years BEFORE Pearl Harbor. That myth has arisen specifically to deny the efficacy of the New Deal. And oddly enough it is repeated by many leftists.
