This is for Day 2 of the Gratitude Challenge. I nominate any who would like to list 3 items they are grateful for for 5 days. 1.) It matters to my pets that I come home and they give me their unconditional love - I am grateful for this and I continue to be in awe with appreciation how animals like our adopted pets do not hold grudges against people despite having been betrayed and hurt by stupid people. OK admit it - you knew my animals would be on here. 2.) I am grateful to all of my teachers whose patience and belief in winter wheat allowed me to come to understand lessons on time lines that varied. These teachers include more professors, scholars and passionate people than I can list. They continue to show me that the more I learn the more I realized the less I know. 3.) I am grateful and inspired by the countless volunteers and professionals who speak truth to power and advocate for the least empowered beings. This list includes but is not limited to children, animals, the elderly, the lesser resourced, the abused, minority groups, the ill and those who are challenged with mental issues. From investigative reporters to LOLIN volunteers to health care workers and educators, an array of dedicated people tackle the most difficult work of all.
