This is for jumpmasters past and present. A former Soldier of mine recently had a cigarette roll. He pulled his reserve and it didnt deploy. He did remember this happening to our SGM and grabbed his reserve and threw it into the wind. It caught air and he landed hard but survived. I spoke to him and he said a new jumpmaster was saying the malfunction was his fault and had he had a good exit out, it wouldnt have happened. He also heard from this same jumpmaster had he not be bent over so far his reserve would have deployed properly. I dont know about yall but im not sure how accurate that line of thinking is or if ANY jumpmaster should be telling jumpers that without knowing for sure. Kinda irresponsible to me. So to the group...does any of this sound right? Ive not heard of a weak exit causing a cigarette roll. Comments or shared experience/knowledge welcome.
