This is for the people I left behind in Ballarat. The weather is warm and balmy with a gentle breeze. Again. I know I am gloating, but that is the end of it. Because the picture inside the building is not so pretty. Nurse to resident ratios of one to ten or more. Dementia residents roam the place. Sometimes the only way to stop them is to lock the doors. It can be hard to find a place to hide. The nursing care is variable. From good to really ordinary. The food is bearable. The saving grace is that there are good people doing their best against the odds. And that makes it easier. Let not anyone thing that I am about to run back to Victoria. Not going to happen. To those doctors and therapists in Victoria who decided that I needed a nursing home. You were wrong then and you are wrong now. I am getting a physio. Assessment tomorrow. Also I am getting a referral for rehabilitation at the local hospital. It. Is all about to start. Just watch me go. The other thing is that this area is very quickly starting to feel like home.
