This is for those who wait. “The pressure makes us stronger. The struggle makes us hunger. The hard lessons make the difference. And the difference makes it worth it” –- Fireflight We are entitled to nothing in this life. Sure, for us chosen few there is “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. But mother nature, circumstance, and malicious people are no respecters of life. Prisoners of incarceration and abusive relationships do not feel liberated. Happiness is only a dream for those in desperate situations, with chemical imbalances, or who don’t know where their next meal will come from. You don’t have to walk far down the street or down the pew of your church to witness misery and hopelessness. You can work tirelessly your entire life toward a goal and you may never achieve it. Even if you do, it will most likely be fleeting. Feelings of success, achievement, happiness and satisfaction rarely last. That interstitial space between hope and fruition is filled with loneliness, isolation, hurt, frustration, anger, and fear. What is a guy to do? You wait. God’s time is not our time. He has a plan that will come to fruition and we know not the day or hour. Part of maturing is knowing the proper time for the proper action. Run the race set before you, and measure yourself by your own standards and not those of your neighbor. Discipline yourself physically and mentally to live by His standards, not this world’s standards. Take that emotion, focus it, and energize your work and purpose. Do the work, live by faith, and grow in character and integrity in the meantime. Help others grow using your gifts endowed by the Creator. Enjoy the ride; there is much to see and experience along the way. “but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.
