This is for you John Boger a part from my book . We rode in for breakfast and washed our hands and faces. Cookie handed out bowls this morning instead of plates. That’s odd. “What’s this, tastes awful crunchy?” One of the men asked. “Oatmeal,” Cookie answered. “Shut up and eat.” I looked at mine. “Oatmeal, where did you get that, John?” “Had a couple of bags of oat’s I’d brought along for my mules but the second bag got mites in it, so I couldn’t feed it to my mules. Might make’em sick. So I ground it up and maked’ oatmeal.” “Holly cow Cookie, with mites in it?” Arnie said. “Shut up and eat, there cooked ain’t they, wont hurt ya, adds a little spice to it. Might make bread out’a it too!” John blurted back. “Don’t taste too bad really.” Matt Yeaton said. “Gotta little sugar?” “All right, move’em out boys,” Arnie shouted, “Let’s get’em’ moving, times a wasting.”
