This is from Astronomy Photo of the Day apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130618.html The music "Impact Lento" accompanying it is by Kevin MacLeod, a composer that I have worked with on several of my films (Including Day at Elfin Forest youtube/watch?v=O32xt-uKE4I ) This was part of a collection of pieces called "Impact" that I asked him to write for listening while watching the lunar impact of the LCROSS satellite lcross.arc.nasa.gov/ in 2009. The "lento" movement was timed to be played after the impact, conveying an grand, etherial sense of the moon revealing its secrets to the universe (it did show water.) Unfortunately, none of the earth-based telescopes, much less my tiny 22" club scope, was able to see it. But it was fun to plot out the process and compose the music for watching lunar collisions by. You can hear the 6 pieces he wrote at incompetech/music/royalty-free/index.html?keywords=impact&Search=Search Impact Allegreto incompetech/music/royalty-free/mp3-royaltyfree/Impact%20Allegretto.mp3 was the piece where satellite hit the moon, and Impact Prelude incompetech/music/royalty-free/mp3-royaltyfree/Impact%20Prelude.mp3 was the opening, when the satellite was cruising to its eventual collision on the moon.
