This is from a client/friend of mine whose photos I took. One of the best compliments Ive ever gotten--made me teary-eyed. Shows, I think, the power of photography and the resilience of people through tough times. On most days, I avoid being in front of the camera at all costs. My yearbook staff likes to tease me about the irony of this, and I remain perpetually camera shy. I did this shoot because I wanted to make sure my daughters had photos of us together, something I barely have from my own mother. It seemed to be one of those important parent things that would be hard to make up for if I let the opportunity go by. That being said, doing this unnerved me quite a bit. I spent the last years of my marriage hearing how uninspiring my look was, and the divorce compounded my already shaky self-image. In short, I wasnt ready to like what I saw when I opened Kathys link this morning; I had a grit your teeth and do it for the kids mindset. To see myself and not immediately want to delete the photo was refreshing, and I owe so much of that to Kathy and her lovely way of putting us all at ease. All this sincerity is burning a bit, so Imma run away from this now. Seek out T-Stagg Photography for your photo needs - she does some good stuff.
