This is from my high school friend, Terry, whose own father served 30 years in the Army. My dad, Jim, set the pace for our family, serving in the Army Air Corps, the Marines, and Army, before retiring from the latter in 1978 after a total of 27 years. My brother, Jim, retired after 22 years (active duty and national guard); my sister, Linda, had 18 years of service when her life was cut short in 1999; my brother, Keith, retired from the Navy with 16 years. I served 30 years (active duty and reserve). Lindas daughter, Tracy, recently retired after 20 years. Keiths boys are both in the Air Force---James has 9 years service to date, and Danny is in his 4th. Kevins stepson, Matthew, is medically retired, as a result of an eye tumor in his first year of service. Total (so far): 146....if you add in my moms brothers (Walter, 22 years USAF, and Bob, 6 years Army), the total rises to 174. America isnt perfect, but we love her, and it has been our privilege and honor to serve!!
