Please ensure that your local groups get this information. - Midair, your friendly neighborhood Kingdom Seneschal The practice of increasing the NMS from $5.00 is disallowed at this time. There have been occasions where the NMS was raised by individual Kingdoms to create additional revenue; however, that practice must be terminated immediately. (note: I dont recall the Middle Kingdom ever doing this - Midair) I would also like to remind everyone that a required donation or Kingdom Tithe is not allowed as a site fee. This position is supported by the Governing Documents of the SCA, Chapter IV, Section F: 4. No law may require members or branches to make donations to the treasury of the realm. Laws which discuss voluntary donations are acceptable, as are those which mandate reasonable fees for events and services or discuss financial arrangements for the realm’s main events sponsored by local branches. As such, there can be no mandatory Kingdom Tithe attached to a site fee or for any services... which would include obtaining authorization cards, entry into tournaments/competitions or any other opportunities in terms of an SCA event or SCA activity. This is because it was determined that is detrimental to charge our newest attendees that are not members yet a fee higher than the $5.00 approved by the Directors. It is the intent of the Directors for non-members to assist in the maintaining of the infrastructure of the SCA and to encourage attendance and membership. A higher NMS fee discourages future attendance and participation of our newest potential members. Please discontinue the additional charges that have been added to the NMS. As of this date, the NMS fee will be $5.00 until such time as the Board of Directors change it.
