This is fun, and appropriate for this time of year. It also makes me think about certain Jewish traditions (being one of the few regularly exiled, nomadic peoples whose history got written down and regularly republished). This holiday celebrates of war of liberation, a war against an imperialist power. Theres a reason Jews have often support civil rights and lost causes. And its a reason many of us are regularly, deeply disturbed by the actions of the State of Israel. So on this festival of light, my heart goes out to all people everywhere who want to live in freedom, and my heart breaks for how many of them are at each others throats. This is all really heavy for a charming little song. Guess its time for bed.
