This is going against our practice of not making posts personal. But this is an exception. Many of us watched 7.30 Report and the courageous officers talk about their personal and ethical struggles as they followed commands and carried out their duties on the high seas rescuing asylum seekers and retrieving bodies. It makes us weep for these men and what they were forced to confront. But more than that it makes us so angry that our governments care less about the impact of their utterly inhumane policies and practices. Their strategies are deliberate and politically motivated ignoring the well being and safety of asylum seekers and Australian naval and customs personnel. The evidence presented on 7.30 surely is grounds for investigation and for Ministers and Prime Ministers to be held accountable. The imposed secrecy from both sides is intentional and downright evil in its purpose.
