This is going out to my soldiers, my recently promoted and the ones who want to EARN there stripes(noticed I said EARN and not wear). I dont usually rant on a serious note but I have heard many things I dont like coming from the unit I love, the unit where I grew to be a leader, and I am not happy. A noncommissioned officers duties are numerous and must be taken seriously. An NCOs duty includes taking care of soldiers, which is your priority. Corporals and sergeants do this by developing a genuine concern for their soldiers well-being. Leaders must know and understand their soldiers well enough to train them as individuals and teams to operate proficiently. This will give them confidence in their ability to perform well under the difficult and demanding conditions of battle. Individual training is the principle duty and responsibility of NCOs. No one in the Army has more to do with training soldiers than NCOs. Well trained soldiers will likely succeed and survive on the battlefield. Well trained soldiers properly do the tasks their NCOs give them. A good leader executes the bosss decisions with energy and enthusiasm; looking at their leader, soldiers will believe the leader thinks its absolutely the best possible solution. Take a look at this gentleman. This is what you should be striving for, you took what us Leaders that left you and destroyed it. Rank comes with responsibility, and yes power, but that power is to be used to help your Joes not belittle them, not force your rank when something is not going your way. I would suggest looking deep inside yourself and ask am I ready for this power? Dont destroy the good name That C troop has EARNED over the years. If you have a problem with this post or find it offensive then it was probably directed at you. If a soldier is having problems learning something get on there level and see if you can help them understand. If a soldier is heavy, it does not make them a bad soldier, some of the best soldiers I know that have EARNED their stripes two times over are over weight or can not pass a PT test, does that mean you belittle them? NO! You help them cuz sometimes theres a good chance they know more than you. So start being leaders and abusing your rank and use it to help and train soldiers the right way and not be a shit-bag. ok im done.
