This is going to be a bit of a long post, disclosing a few things about myself I have only shared with very few & very close family/friends. If you have read this far then you might as well keep reading because regardless of how Ive caught your attention, youve just hit the tip of the iceberg. Just because I post often, doesnt mean I am an open-book. Like most, I show the best face forward, not the worst. I have always been patriotic at heart, my families lineage of service to our country expanding over the decades. Both my Grandmother and Grandfather were WWII Veterans, my Father a Vietnam Veteran, and I myself a prior military wife of over six years. Ive experienced the aftermath of deployment to Iraq and the effects it had on our family. Unfortunately there was no glue nor therapy in the world that could hold together our family after acute PTSD and failure of positive reintegration into society wrecked our lives. I have held many cards in my hands over the years. I am a jack of all trades, master of few. What accomplishments I have made personally and professionally have not been for myself, but for my family. I hold a degree, and am in two different professions, but its no longer enough. I am at that fork in the road, where neither right nor left seems to promise the passion and desire to DO more and BE more. After that deeply embedded pull tearing me into two separate persons for years, I am finally at peace with myself because I am choosing instead the upward path. I am both humbled and ecstatic to say that after our wedding I will be enlisting in the Reserves and returning to college for my Bachelors. It may only be a civilian solider to some, but with my obligations to my son and soon to be wonderfully supportive husband, it is my way of showing my gratitude and respect to all members of the service and hopefully leading the way for my son to grow into something more than I could ever hope to be, and to share that with future generations. I would rather regret the things Ive done, than regret the things Id never had the courage to do. This nation wasnt built solely on leaders... it was brought to fruition by average Joes like you and I. 💗🇺🇸
