This is going to be my last blog because the head doctor says I - TopicsExpress

This is going to be my last blog because the head doctor says I need to focus less on my computer, TV and other electronics, and focus more on yoga and meditation. He also suggested I stop using outside chemicals like shaving cream, after shave, Dove body soap, Shampoo, Deodorant and even contacts lenses. But I assure you I will send a weekly update on how the treatment is going! Thank you everyone for reading the blogs. Trust me when I say this, every like and comment on the blogs makes me feel blessed and confident that I WILL get better and beat this horrible disease, no matter what it takes! Day – 7 - Been here for a week now and starting to notice a difference in my health. Feel energetic in the mornings, controlled bowl movements and overall feel healthier. I haven’t had meat in a month and a half and starting to notice my muscles fade away due to a lack of protein in my diet. Couple months ago I made fun of my mom for getting old and having bags under her arms and just before I left for India, she definitely reminded me that I also have sagging arms, due to the loss of muscles. I had consulted a Naturopathy doctor in Phoenix to see if there was any way of getting treated in America rather can coming to India for Ayurvedic treatment and Dr Nandyala assured me that following her strict diet plan and taking multivitamins will heal the ulcers in my colon and could be the cure I need. I really don’t think visiting her helped because her diet plan was already something I had started and the multivitamins she wanted me to take cost $300 per month! The multivitamins included, B-12 drops, Fish Oil, Folic Acid, Quercetin, Aloe Vera Gel, Coconut oil, Coconut Water, Probiotics, MediClear, Sea Cure and Rice Protein. I would’ve definitely listed to her treatment but every time I asked which one of these multivitamins were focused solely on decreasing the inflammation in my colon, her reply was always the same, they all do. After doing research, I found out that most of these pills just boost energy. If anything, the coconut water increases bowel movements so I was confused as to what the purpose of all these multivitamins were. To me, it seemed like she was just trying to make money off of me. Insurance didn’t cover the visits and she was a very expensive doctor. First visit costs $250, second visit $120 and each visit after that is $95. During two visits to Dr Nandyala I had spent $920; $250 for the first visit, $300 on two month supply of multivitamins, $120 on second visit and $250 on a food allergy test which she recommended was very crucial on determining my strict diet going forward. She had told me that after taking all these multivitamins, I would feel a difference in my health within two weeks and the bleeding would stop. Well, bleeding did not stop and I felt embarrassed for spending close to a thousand dollars of my parent’s money within two weeks for something that didn’t seem to work as promised. If anything, this was another money making scheme, which worked for the doctor. Had my second day of Yoga class and did 5 yoga positions which focused mainly on my gut and breathing. After the class I noticed a Carrom Board sitting on the side of the stairs and asked the boy who brings me food if he knows how to play, he replied and said of course! I had asked him when he was free in sign language and then he came to my room around 4 pm and we played Carrom for two hours! This used to be one of my favorite childhood games growing up in India. The game is just like Billiards, except it’s a square board with 4 pockets. Concept of the game it to pocket your color disks and the queen disk before your opponent and you win. I obviously didn’t win any games since I was a little rusty, but asked the boy to leave the board in my room so I could practice and have something to do during my long days. While we were playing, the lady nurses noticed us playing and came to watch us play on the floor of my room. The boy started to show off and started pocketing the disks quicker and with a lot more style. I got pissed and jokingly told the boy I was tired and needed to nap; but really I was practicing on the board until dinner was served at 730. Felt good about today. It’s been a week at the clinic and I am starting to get used to my daily routine and starting to appreciate every moment here instead of looking at flaws. Hopefully the next 3 weeks here go by as planned and the inflammation in my colon is gone.
