This is going to sound a little unusual, but I’m very serious about it. This is not a business; it’s intended as a service, and apparently a much needed service. (But a worker IS worthy of his hire, so you decide what it’ll be worth to you!) I recently offered my services as a proof-reader to a local pastor, and he was very pleased with the results. I offered this for free because I like the guy, and we agreed that in the future it would be for pay. With the advances in self-publishing, literally anyone can put out a book for about the cost of dinner and a movie. SOME people actually have something worth saying, but if their grammar or spelling is poor, it reflects badly on the work, decreasing credibility and actually raising questions of intelligence or education. I don’t have any stupid people on my Friends list! And I do have several ministries, pastors and shepherds. I count this as a genuine blessing. My qualifications? Aside from being a verified genius and former National SIG Coordinator for American Mensa (and more than a little bit ODC), I also passed the BrainBench certification for Written English at the Master’s level. Additionally, I’m currently teaching English grammar to homeschoolers, so it’s pretty fresh in my mind. If you are about to print a publication of any length, and you are a minister, and it suites you to do so, send me a copy of your files first, in either PDF or DOC format. I will check for spelling, grammar, tense, and structure, WITHOUT altering the message itself. In other words, it will not be “EDITED”, only corrected. If desired, I can also run reference checks, not to change your copy, but to inform you of factual error. (Many things copied from the internet simply are not true, and Snopes doesn’t get them all!) I can send you links to correct or verified information. (I had a 46% “Best Answer” rating on Yahoo Answers before I quit using it – That means of all the folks dispensing nuggets of wisdom, nearly half the time mine were voted as the best available.) Yeah, I’m bragging… This offer is meant as a service to ministers of the Gospel, and could be withdrawn if the demand becomes overwhelming. It’s just something I want to do. (Part of my Christian Conservative Capitalist upbringing says, “If you see the need, fill the need”.) And MAN! Is there a need!
