This is great advice for college music students. It also contains many gems that can be useful to you as a musician if you are NOT now in school, or even if youve never gone to school for music. For just one example, consider this line: Practicing is more about problem solving than anything else. My schooling was in a technical field, and my day job involves customer support and some software design. So I truly appreciate the idea of problem solving as a necessary part of my job. But I hadnt ever really thought of how that might apply to playing music. Immediately on reading that sentence it flashed in my mind that practicing my guitar is indeed an attempt to solve problems. Being armed with that insight will hopefully have an effect on how I structure and use my practice time in the future. There are a number of other gems in this short article. I highly recommend it, and am thankful to Joe Jewell for sharing it with us.
