This is how Prithvi Tej achieved Rank 1 in IIT JEE 2011 Hi friends, I am more than happy to share my experiences and lessons that I learned during this unforgettable journey. Firstly I want to clear a general notion that “only geniuses and intelligent people can be rankers”. There are 2 types of people who can excel. The ones who are born geniuses. People who are laborious & persistent in their efforts. Frankly speaking, I am from the 2nd category. I am no genius nor do I have a super active brain. All I have is laboriousness and dedication. You must have known by now that this journey is not easy. Pressure, high expectations and strong urge to quit are complimentary. But it is during these trying times that it is important to keep calm & presence of mind and “try” being optimistic! ;) After all, rolling stones don’t gather moss. So it is important to keep moving. GOING THE DISTANCE- STAYING GALVANIZED IS THE KEY What is your driving force? What keeps you motivated during exams? What kept the “now” toppers going while they took these exams? Ever given a thought to this? May be …may be not! So let me tell you first hand. For some people, their driving force could be MONEY.For some people, it could be status. But my driving force was the knowledge that I was getting and of course, a bright career ahead. So again it is important for aspirants to realize what their driving force is. Only when they are clear about it can they work towards achieving it!!! Making mistakes is not the problem. Not analyzing them is the problem. When we do not analyze, we get trapped in a loop and keep committing the same errors again and again post which, the setbacks stop us from trying harder. We feel like quitting and that is when failure sets in. After every mock test or test series that I gave, I used to catch hold of my teachers, sit with them and get each & every thing cleared. But this habit too came in only after a few kicks! :P So the sooner you realize, the better it is for you. You all must have heard of the phrase, “All work and no play makes johny a dull boy.” It is not only important to keep the spirit high, but also indulge in some kind of recreational activity that keeps you refreshed from time to time. I watched a lot of good TV series, light comedy & inspirational movies like Marley & Me, Million dollar baby, Pursuit of happiness etc and played a couple of outdoor games. Another very important aspect we tend to ignore is the company we are in. As far as possible, stay in the company of people who ooze positivity.
