This is how busy i want to be if my Application is successful....... Please Read below... Ive studied all of this and am competent for this sort of work...... Fingers XX International Travel Consultant - Hastings Job No: F150138 Location: Hawkes Bay Day in the life of a Flight Centre Travel Consultant Ever wondered what your day would look like if you were an international travel consultant? Theres no such thing as a ‘normal day at Flight Centre, but here is one example of a working day from one of our staff members... 8:00am - 8:45am: You arrive at your store and start preparing yourself for your day, reading and responding to emails, grabbing a coffee and catching up with your team mates. 8:45am - 9:00am: Every morning prior to opening you sit down to have a meeting or morning planner with your team where you focus on your sales goals for the day and share relevant information. Your daily job for that week may be to update the airfare boards hanging in the windows with the latest specials. Now its time to open the doors! 9:00am - 10:00am: An ad in the newspaper has attracted a lot of attention so the phone is ringing constantly. Mr and Mrs McDonald need to fly to their sons wedding in Paris and also need a car, however accommodation is not necessary. After verifying the spelling of both names you obtain the phone and fax numbers so that you can send through for approval a credit card authorization form. The booking is not over though, you still need to write up an invoice and they need seat assignments and meal requests. 10:00am - 10:30am: A repeat customer of your coworker at the next desk walks in - but today is his day off. You inform Mrs Juliani that you would be more than happy to look after her today. She needs two business class seats to Milan with a hotel for herself and her daughter. She is a frequent flyer member and will only fly on that certain airline. With one call to Flight Centres internal wholesaler Infinity Holidays, you find out that this is a very busy time in Milan. The hotel has to go on request and Mrs Juliani must wait 24 hours before you will find out if there is a room available. She pays for the flight tickets now and you schedule to call her the following day to advise her about the status of her hotel booking. Exploring new territory! 10:30am - 12:30pm: In the course of the morning you take several phone calls and suggest a great tour for a first time traveler to Europe along with suggested day trips, rail product and accommodation as a backup. You print out a flight itinerary so that this potential customer can walk away with something concrete to start planning their holiday. 12:30pm - 1:00pm: Lunch is rarely a set time as things always come up or rush hour descends - you always want to be in your seat to maximize your business when clients walk in, but you are feeling hungry and decide now is a great time. As you leave the store you take some South America brochures to read so you can do some research for a future holiday...will it be Rio or Machu Pichu? 1:00pm - 1:30pm: You return to a bustle of activity. The phone is ringing with more lines than there are consultants currently in the store. There are several customers waiting patiently in the lobby. You take line five and a customer sits down in front of you. You smile at them and motion that you will be just a minute. On the telephone you take all of the necessary details to give an accurate quote for a Mexican honeymoon. Meanwhile Ms Harrison is calmly waiting in front of you. She and her friend want to go on an exotic beach holiday and want your recommendation - Bali or Thailand? You have been to Thailand but not Bali and you start to worry....but suddenly Julie, the consultant that sits next to you overhears and informs you that shes been to Bali and will help you. You are silently grateful that all of the consultants are well traveled and eager to help out. Ms Harrison has very little time today so you hand her a brochure and a quote and guarantee her that you will have flights, accommodation ideas and pricing to her within 48 hours. 1:30pm - 2:00pm: While you are on the phone with a wholesaler securing a quote for the Mexican honeymoon you begin paging through brochures to find a suitable holiday package for Ms Harrison. You find a package combining flights, accommodation and a couple of day tours however there is one problem; all of the packages are for only 10 days and you need 14 days so you need to find a wholesaler who can help you. After asking your team mates with no luck you send an email to the internal Classifieds asking for suggestions. Within minutes you receive five emails from fellow Flight Centre consultants who offer their advice and suggestions. Making your passion your career! 2:00pm - 2:30pm: Now its time for a one on one with your manager which happens monthly. You both go to a nearby coffee shop where look over your targets and achievements, discuss your future plans with the company and your wish at becoming an assistant manager within the next six months. This will mean fully understanding the financial aspects of running the store, taking control of the budget and stepping into a leadership role whenever possible. It also means a great focus on your current position, increasing your sales figures and building a strong repeat and referral client base. 2:30pm - 4:00pm: Once back in the office you create a great package for your Mexican honeymoon clients including private transfers from the airport to their five star all inclusive hotel. You fax everything to the clients and then give them a call to make sure they have received it and see if they have any questions. They want to think about it overnight so you schedule a time to follow up with them tomorrow. You also advise them to check out a fantastic web site for up to date information on the area they are visiting. The phone rings again and its Mr Wong who needs flights to Calgary with a car rental. Oh and he wants to take his dog this time too. 4:00pm - 5:30pm: Another client has just called with a lower quote from an internet travel agency. You manage to beat the lower price that they found. He happily books immediately and you print out his electronic ticket confirmation. Now that you have a few free minutes you place follow-up calls to clients you have talked to during the course of the day and diarize everything you need to do tomorrow. You tidy up your desk and say your goodbyes to your coworkers. Tonight you will go home and rest because tomorrow is another big day and tomorrow night you will attend your first Buzz Night. This is a company wide tradition where once a month you get together with shops in your area for a social and celebrate individual and company accomplishments. This is always motivational, entertaining and a lot of fun...reminder to self - tomorrows Buzz night is an 80s theme so I need to get my costume ready.
