This is how my morning went today... I woke up early as usual. The house was super cold, so I checked the thermostat and it was on 70 where it should be, but the temperature was 57. Brrr. So I checked the furnace and discovered the pilot light had blown out. Now, Im new this lighting my own pilot light gig, so I did what we all do these days (and when Jack Etheridge is in St Louis)... I went to You Tube. I got my flashlight, lighting stick and a screwdriver. I followed the instructions and lit the pilot light. Then I made my only mistake. I let go of the gas knob before I put the panel back on... Whooooosh!!!! Man! that furnace can blast out some serious flames when theres no panel on it to protect you. A few singed eyelashes and eyebrows later, I got the panel on and the cover in place. I learned a lesson that Ill never forget... REPLACE THE COVER BEFORE YOU TURN THE GAS BACK ON!!! OK, maybe this isnt the real story... no singed eyebrows or eyelashes... but it really does shoot out some serious flames!
