This is how poor Dexter finished his birthday. Dexter has been sedated like this all night and will continue to be for many hours to come. They are Harvesting Stem Cells from him to use after later chemo cycles. After his 3rd cycle of chemo, Dexter will receive 3 cycles of hard chemo. The result will be Dexters bone marrow will almost shut down completely and with it the ability to produce stem cells. Stem cells are responsible for making healthy red blood cells. Dexter will be given back his stem cells in a transfusion after each cycle of hard chemo to help him recover more quickly. You can see a pic of the stem cells attached to this post. Thank you!
