This is how the program works. If you work in the Public Interest Sector (Government, Non-For-Profit, Social Services, Etc.), all you have to do is tell the government via the website below--then pay your student loans for ten years (even under the Income Based Repayment plan which reduces it to the lowest amount based on your annual earnings)--and then watch the remaining balances disappear. This is definitely real, as I have went through the process myself and although you do have to do a little leg work in terms of providing the Federal Government with your previous tax returns, and most recent paycheck stubs, I presume for many of you out there, the THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in loans which will be forgiven after 120 payments is well worth that little leg work.
