This is in memory of Luke Maue. Luke’s should be turning 21 on Sept. 21st…..but he lost his life to a drunk driver at the age of 7 in front of the St. Louis Zoo. He was killed in front of his mother, classmates, their parents and Zoo visitors. His family started Runners 4 Luke back in 2009 and began running in local runs supporting The Backstoppers and CHADS Coalition. The past 3years they have held the Hope 4 Tomorrow 5K and 1 Mile MADD Dash raising dollars for the Gateway Affiliate of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD). The run is held around the time of Luke’s birthday. This year it will be on his actual birthday, Sept 21 and in special memory of this, we are adding the 21K to the event. The plan is that a 3-man team would sign up for the 21K and each run a distance of 7K. To symbolize that he was 7 when he was killed and the 21 for his 21st birthday. This is basically a save the date notice as we are setting up the online registration...so check back soon for that information.
