This is in our 100 Years Ago section of Yesteryears well run in our May 30 newspaper: The arrest of James McMillian, one of Galva’s business men, this morning on a charge of larceny, was a big surprise to our people generally. Some weeks ago about 80 pounds of butter was stolen from the Galva Creamery; C.A. Peterson, the proprietor of the Creamery, swore out a search warrant and he and Marshal Jacobson and Policeman Aman searched the basement of Mr. McMillian’s restaurant this morning and found about 16 pounds of butter. Mr. McMillan’s arrest followed. At his hearing this afternoon before Justice Williams, he waived the examination and gave a bond of $500 to await the action of the Grand Jury. Mr. McMillian says he does not know how the butter came to be in the basement.
