This is in response to a few pretty mean comments I’ve seen directed my way today, on an article I wrote regarding a police officer who has been charged with a violation. I get along with people from all different backgrounds, who work every job under the sun: cops, firefighters, teachers, doctors, politicians and stay-at-home parents, you name it. I put time, care and constant effort into what I do - I think the majority of our readers know that - because I love and respect this job and the paper and the people who take time to read what I write. Reporters dont make more money when something “bad” happens (I’ll never know where that rumor came from, pretty sure it’s followed this profession since the dawn of time) but you can’t please everyone all of the time. That’s not what this is about. The best you can do is treat people the way youd want to be treated if those bad situations were reversed. OK. End of rant, I’m starving, heading home finally!
