This is in response to all the flak SIT is drawing for SUniG. I - TopicsExpress

This is in response to all the flak SIT is drawing for SUniG. I can only say, dont comment based on one side of the story. Yes, your friends might be telling you that they need a coach, that they need funds blah blah blah. But have you look at the constraint on SIT, especially on Student Life? Go talk to them, and find out what is happening. Dont jump to conclusions. I am a student athlete of SIT. I took part in SUniG and IVP. I feel that it is unfair that there are people doubting the school. And regarding the fact that SIT staff lack pride and ownership of the CCAs in SIT, I think that is a really really bias statement. Student Life has always been very supportive of student athletes, when we took part in competitions. Lastly I would like to add that students should be in charge of the sporting fraternity in SIT. We shouldnt be expecting SIT to spoonfeed us all the time. Cmon guys, this is UNI. Be it school work, studies, CCAs, we must be the ones taking charge. We can look to them for some guidance, but ultimately we have to be the ones leading the charge. Adequate training is only achievable if there are students who are willing to take part in training. It is only achievable if students are willing to even make an effort to come down for training. This is not what I see. A lot of times, some students will pull out of training last minute citing schoolwork, or personal commitments. I believe training is just as important as schoolwork and personal commitment. You cant say because you cannot cope, and you forgo training. Sadly, that is the mentality of a lot of SIT students. This scenario is happening in most of the clubs. Without proper attendance, dont talk about coaches or adequate training. It will be a waste of money. I am sorry if this post seems like I am blabbering. But I feel that school work, personal commitment and CCAs (if you do join one) are all equally important. The most important thing is time management. If you think it is impossible to juggle, dont commit and leave halfway. It is very unfair to those who stay. You wont know something impossible is possible unless you do it, unless you try it. Dont flak SIT, dont flak Student Life, and dont flak SIT Sports, especially if you are a sportsmen yourself. You can only blame yourself for not putting more effort in. Show that you can do it, and people will definitely support you. Money dont just fall out from the sky.
