This is interesting: Humana (my health insurer) sent out a letter and options for me to choose from within the next 30 days. Mind you, my premiums from 2010 to present have almost doubled, and my deductible has more than doubled for my current plan. The letter indicates that my new premium should I choose the Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverages will be $994.71 per month. My current plan which I chose and like is $362.02. This same plan was $214 and change per month in 2010 with a much lower deductible. So this is affordable, and this caused my premiums to go down, and this allowed me to keep my doctor??? This is BS at its worst! And now Uncle Sam wants me to suck at the government teat and ask for a subsidy through Connect for Health Colorado. I do believe I am done with health insurance. And I have no desire to take a government plan. I want to know if there are docs who will simply take my money for services provided with no 3rd party intervention (insurance, government or otherwise). What are other individuals doing who pay for their own insurance?
