This is interesting. Probably gonna have to catch most of it later. The 90s were a strange, surreal time to be a young gun nut. Ive always liked the idea, or philosophy of militias, more than about 99% of the people who identify themselves as militia. Most of the ones I knew then were varying degrees of sad and pathetic. Usually mostly decent with a few screws loose and an off kilter view of the way the world really is. Mostly all talk, essentially playing dressup. Disenfranchised and holding out of hope that their day will come. And few genuinely, really bad, really evil people, and a fair number of what were basically just opportunists, scammers, and criminals. My old man used to worry about me, it was the one thing he really bothered keeping tabs on in regards my behavior. Ill always be into preparedness, and survivalism, and Ill always believe and maybe even wish there were a more sane, robust culture of militia here. If for no other reason than I firmly believe people should have the ability to resist government tyranny- to include violent action, even if they desperately need a better definition, understanding of, and litmus test for what government tyranny really is. Ive said before, and Ill say again, the problem with violence, especially political violence, is not that it is never called for. Its that it is very rarely called for. And all too often, those willing to engage in it, are both overeager and indiscriminate. I believe that is a scary, dangerous precedent. Because when only ignorant, insane assholes are having the conversation, then they control it. If that makes sense. What Im saying is that most were varying degrees of loser, with a few genuinely evil people that can exploit and own a narrow conversation because no one else is willing to have it.
