This is interesting, now the EU is wanting to restrict the use of names used to identify cheeses. I guess if the EU can restrict names of cheeses coming from America or Canada. If you read the article you find that all of these cheeses the EU is talking about originated in Europe brought to the United States by immigrating Europeans who restarted their careers by making their cheeses here. Since the EU is on this restrictive path, then the US should restrict those same named cheeses from entering the United States. We have just as much to lose as they do, so why allow their cheeses to enter our country while they deny ours into their countries? Maybe after they realize their protectionism is hurting everyone they will back off, if not, then just continue the embargo of their cheeses. Next the EU will start saying that a Mercedes or a VW made in Germany is not the same as a Mercedes or a VW made in the United States and will band the use of those names for those made in the USA. I guess it is not enough to add Made in Greece or Italy or made in USA on the labels large enough to easily read on the front of the label instead of in the small type.
