This is just a quick memory stirred up this morning as I was - TopicsExpress

This is just a quick memory stirred up this morning as I was fixing my breakfast. I reached for a banana that was in an old strainer by the cabinet where my cereal is stored. Way back in the summer of 1954, Mary Powell( Mrs. J. D. Bankston) gave a kitchen shower for me. She lived in a little house close to the RR tracks going toward the cemetery- the road by the school. I have forgotten the name of the street but you turn off Geneva on to it. Anyway I even remember the dress I wore. It was bright blue almost cobalt with Kelly green piping. Strange isnt it what you remember? My future mother in law and already my friend Betsy Booth gave me that strainer that has been a constant part of my life since then. I still even have a hand beater that Mary gave me and a big strainer spoon too that I use daily. ( cant remember who gave that item) Memories are precious. Betsy has been dead since early 1958 but every morning I have a fleeting memory of her smile.
