Also, the Saudis blasting the Norwegians for inequality in riches makes as much sense as Sarah Palin calling out Angela Merkel for political inexperience. Seriously, you cant make this nonsense up. Norway came under criticism during a session of the United Nations Universal Periodic Review, when a number of member states are on the roster to have their human rights record examined. The Gulf kingdom said that Norway fails to protect Muslim citizens, and called for criticism of the Prophet Mohammed, and of religion in general, to be outlawed. Saudi Arabia highlighted “increasing cases of domestic violence, rape crimes and inequality in riches” in the Scandinavian country, along with hate crimes against Muslims, the U.K.s Independent newspaper reported. Russia, a member of the 47-strong UN Human Rights Council along with Saudi Arabia, said Norway should act against religious prejudice, and also came out against its child welfare system. Russia also said Oslo should improve holding facilities for asylum seekers, The Independent said. Norways Foreign Minister Borge Brende, in Geneva for the review, told Norwegian media beforehand, It is a paradox that countries which do not support fundamental human rights have influence on the council, but that is the United Nations, The Local reported.
