This is long, but I feel the need to share this. Yesterday, my Papaw asked my sister, Lindy, & I to pray with him. My sister said the most heartfelt & sweetest prayer as she held our Papaws hands, I was so proud of her. My Papaw used to never go to church, but 10 years ago God got his attention when he was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer. The cancer was already in his lymph nodes & we were all scared. My Papaw had an appointment on a Tuesday to get the final test results & what needed to be done. The Monday before his appointment my Mamaw came to the football field where me, my sister & my parents were & told us to leave right then & follow her. We pulled in to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church & went inside where we saw our pastor, Clifton Hearon & his wife, Mae, along with my Papaw, & my Uncle Bernie & Aunt Jennifer Gladden. We all got on our knees at the altar & prayed for my Papaw. I was praying for God to heal my Papaw, but my Papaw was praying a totally different prayer. He stood up crying & couldnt stop as he told us he made things right with God & knew if his journey on this earth was over he was going to a better place with no more pain. Immediately after the prayer my Papaw was baptized. My Papaw went to his appointment the following day & the doctor said they were going to be able to remove all of the cancerous lymph nodes & he would be on treatments for a year & he was going to make it! Since that day my Papaw has lived for The Lord. He loves going to church, listen to his Bible CDs, tell others what God has done for him & my favorite … he says the prayer at our family dinners. God gave my Papaw a second chance, but it wouldnt always be easy. In June 2012 he had a stroke & he just found out a few weeks ago his cancer is back, but he NEVER gives up on God. My Papaw is a true testimony of the power of God working in his life. If he wouldve went to the doctor first & knew he was going to be okay he probably wouldnt be living a spirit filled life today. God knew what he was doing. How can anyone ever say there isnt a God with a testimony like this? Please pray for my Papaw. And please pray that my Papaws testimony will make a difference in someones life. Its wonderful having friends like you for support of any kind in my life. I love all of you so very much Laurel
