This is more important for the future course of humanity than pretty much anything you can come up with. The dream of nearly unlimited power, without the danger of nuclear contamination, carbon pollution, or petty wars over oil; might be within our grasp. One day, looking out from a strange planet orbiting Alpha Centauri, the human race will see our pale yellow star four light years away and realize how far we have truly come.
