This is my America. Many years ago I attended an event at the home of Mrs. Billie Dolenz in Fort Worth. The honored guest was a man not much taller than me. I remember the sweater he had on had a small hole in it and the tennis shoes he wore probably came from a discount store or perhaps a resale shop. For me, this gentleman was taller than the Empire State Building. He was Mr. Cesar Chavez. He asked for nothing but support for his beloved farm workers. Years later thanks to Dr. Pat Linares, a group of us including Dr. Camille Rodriguez, Kathleen Hicks, Deborah Peoples were privileged to honor Mr. And Mrs. Arturo S. Rodriguez. He is now the president of the United Farm Workers. They have continued the work of one of the greatest men I have ever met. So on what would have been his 87th birthday, I thank him for the sacrifices he made for us all. I am a farm worker and I am proud. VIVA CESAR CHAVEZ !!!!!!!!!
