This is my Sachi.... Born at 33 weeks at Tweed Hospital. She was in the Special Care Nursery for 4 weeks before being allowed to go to Murwillumbah. The nurses, cleaners, paediatricians and every single staff member and volunteer loved her and cared for her. Sachi had episodes of apnoea, heart algorithms, she was unable to breastfeed and required 24/7 monitoring. I couldnt be there 24 hours a day and the staff were. They made sure I ate, they put a blanket over me when I fell asleep in a chair and they sat with me when I cried. Sachi spent much of the first year of her life with only 10% hearing and a lot of catching up to do. She is tiny still but dont tell her that. She is strong, healthy and most importantly she is here because of the Special Care Nursery at Tweed Heads. If you have $2.00 to spare buy a raffle ticket. If you have $5.00 buy 3. The funds that are raised are going to the Nursery so life can be better for babies like Sachi and the support of parents (like me) can continue. If you cant no problem.
