This is my email to all Heads of Departments in preparation for the Open Day & Career Fair (22nd - 23rd August, 2014) for The PNG University of Technology: ========================================================= Dear Heads of Departments, I would like to take this opportunity, if you could spare me few minutes to update you on the Open Day & Career Day Event. Details are attached in the brochures but following are vital preparations at the various department levels: 1. Inform all students from First to Final Years in your departments to dress up professionally, even with ties, especially during the Career Fair Day (23rd August, 2014) when all the industries are here. The outside community has been hearing negative things about Unitech. Such approach can change the image and the atmosphere around our campus. This might also include some of your staff as well. 2. Respective Department Cleaners to clean the premises of the departments by trimming flowers nicely, mowing the lawns, and removing any trace of rubbish. Campus outside of the departments can be taken care of by Grounds as our campus is really huge. 3. Please encourage all Department Representatives to attend Organising Committee Meeting as some have not been attending faithfully and other Committee members have expressed concerns in keeping up to date with preparations. 4. All Final Years could be told to prepare copies of CVs, References and other appropriate documents as some of these industries have indicated that they might engage recruitment drive for students. 5. Other students other than the Final Years could prepare their transcripts with other academic documents as certain industries have also expressed interest to consider students for their Graduate Development Programs. 6. Make Charts, PowerPoint and Brochures available in case industries might like to know what your department actually does. Postgraduate and Final Year projects could be displayed as well. 7. Staff and students to be vigilante in keeping eyes on expensive equipment or items that could be taken away easily by opportunists during the two days. 8. As per your department research focus and postgraduate programs, the Career Fair would be a great opportunity for network, negotiation and enquiry for research collaborations, etc. With that, I wish to thank you all for your cooperation.
