This is my first official project piece that I created in my Digital Imaging class. For the project, we can to create a self-portrait, incorporating pictures we take and use it to describe ourselves. Despite this being my first work, I am quite proud of how this came out! I did it in Adobe Photoshop CS6. Please note that the image looks a lot better as a PSG than a JPEG, which is what I had to save it as to submit to my professor today. Since I am a studio art and art history double major, I decided to include some famous paintings from two artists I love: Vincent Van Gogh and Edvard Munch. My digital art professor commented on a picture I had taken of myself and noted that it reminded her of The Scream. So, I placed my image upon The Screams central figure. I then filtered it, so that the picture looked less like a photograph and blended into the painting. Additionally, I added the donkey mask I had and placed it on one of the figures in the background, filtering it to give it a rather creepy/mysterious look. I also changed the color of Van Goghs Starry Night (which I merged with The Scream, so that it looked like one single painting), making it darker to create a more dismal mood. Right underneath the sky, I included one of my pieces from last semester: my tri-hand arm, which were to look like surreal trees that dot the landscape. I also changed the ground that the trees are placed on, in order for the intense yellow to be subdued and for it to mirror the sky. Since I am also a fan of horror literature, I cut out a piece of Munchs painting on the left-and side to include part of Edgar Allan Poes The Raven. I also included several paragraphs of the poem on the bridge, making the text smaller the farther back it went, so that it moved in the perspective of the bridge. Finally, I added the word Nevermore in text onto one of Van Goghs swirls, changing the angel and size of the word to make it more visually appealing and to mimic the swirl pattern of the sky.
