This is my note and response from Mr. Per Greig Jr. Dear Mr. Per Grieg Jr. , Good day to you sir. I am writing you today to ask what is going on with the farmed fish up in around Gold River BC-lots of die offs-been told a couple different reasons why-but that’s not good enough. I am born raised a BC resident and care very deeply about BC;s environment and especially WILD SALMON. So please tell us what is going on? So would greatly appreciate an answer! Your silence only makes people think you are hiding something. respectfully, Adele Hollingsworth R.N.(retired) Campbell River BC Canada His response- Dear Madam Thank you for your mail. As you hopefully will undestand, when farming in natural waters as we are in BC, our awareness and respect for the environment is always at the top of our agenda. In all we do, care for both the farmed fish and our influence on the environment must be key focus. Luckily this is a sound economic principle. This summer we have had an unfortunate mortality due to a short algebloom. These blooms will from time to time cause damage to the fish with some mortality as a result. I can assure you that in handling the dead fish, we take every precausion to remove the morts as soon as possible, with as little effect on the environment as possible. All dead fish is desinfected and disposed of in a regulated and safe way so as not to spread any effects on wildlife. As a company, we have been farming in BC now for 13 years and in Norway for 22 years. It has over all these years been important to improve on our farming practices and its interaction with the environment. We always appreciate good and constructive inputs to how we can improve. I hope this take care of some of your concerns Sent from my iPhone Kind regards Per Grieg jr. Grieg Holdings AS
