This is my nyumbu- dad. When I was a youngster he would take me fishing and bush walking with the Djabugay elders of Kuranda, many of whom have passed away. Through dad and elders Lalfie Thomson, Warren Brim, Uncle Dan Coleman and Uncle Roy Banning I was fortunate to be given a lens to see the dreamtime, the creation spirits, to see the land in its pre colonial wonder and to connect to the past and present culture of the Kuranda Bama. Its a huge honour for me to have so many yabas, jijas, aunties, uncles and extended family in the Kuranda community. thanks dad for being a positive influence in my life and all the late nights on the scotch, puffing our jazz cigarettes listening to the frogs and night birds on the banks of the Barron river.
