This is my sister, Joy Moak, Loyd Star school is in Brookhaven Mississippi. My sister has a 35 year old handicapped son that she started working at this school when my nephew started kindergarten and worked until he graduated high school there. She helped Dustin and other students that had disabilities and ALWAYS did a great job with them. When Carter was born and it was time for his mom to go back to work...she asked Joy to keep him while she worked because she knew that her son would be taken care of and she would not have to worry about him since Joy was familiar with caring for a handicapped child. When it came time for Carter to start kindergarten she was hired to work and care solely for Carter; which she did and he graduated to first grade for this school year. Because of another parents decision, they had one too many teachers in what would have been Carters classroom. For some UNKNOWN reason; which no one will admit to whose decision it was to fire Joy and not someone else, Carter cant start school WITHOUT someone who knows Carters health issues and all that goes along with him being handicapped. Its not just someone to sit at a desk with him to help him with his work; but that someone has to know about his health history and what to do in certain situations. The principals at Loyd Star and the Lincoln County school district superintendent are making ill remarks about Joy and her work ethics; that my friend is defamation of character! I think that it is high time that one of you in leadership have the guts to ADMIT in writing or face to face with Carters parents and Joy who made the decision to replace a 15 year experienced person from this school with someone new....just shortly before the school year started? I wish someone I would get the reporters out to Loyd Star and talk to the parents and other teachers and Joy about whats going on. I hope Joy sues the pants off of all them that are smearing her good name and character. Thats more than I can say for the staff that is involved in this scandal!!!
