This is my version of the ice-bucket challenge because I was truly - TopicsExpress

This is my version of the ice-bucket challenge because I was truly a bit scared of doing this! So, Im sharing this video for two reasons. The first is, despite all our perceived differences in life, music is universally recognized and loved. It is a pure expression of ones self, no matter where its heard. Given the current state of world affairs, I wanted to make the statement that music is one of the strongest ways to bring people together and is a bonding force, like the Beatles (who got their start in Hamburg!), regardless of all other factors. The second reason is because Ive always had a secret inner dream of wanting to learn how to play an electric guitar -- and play it well, like the musicians I love to hear -- and for years was so afraid of being discouraged somehow, that I never played one! But, this past week, Ive had an entire empty library room to myself to play this wonderful Fender and the librarians have been so supportive of my attempts at making music. One said, music is like love, it heals, no? and I could only agree. Making music gives good energy back into the world and its been so enjoyable to play for hours uninterrupted. It underscores the cliched idea that if you love something, go for it, dont be afraid -- the first steps the hardest. I aim to inspire others who might have a similar secret inner dream but maybe are afraid of starting because they psyche themselves out -- they think theyre too old, its too complicated, theyre not musical, etc. Okay, enough words, enjoy. Note: itll sound epic when I can plug the guitar into an amplifier but it sounded pretty good in my headphones, too.
