This is no joke: guy walks into a pawn shop across the street from the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library (a short walk from here), asks to see a shotgun he might be interested in buying. Pawnbroker hands him the shot gun over the counter and the customer takes a single shotgun shell out of his own pocket, loads the gun, and holds the pawnbroker and a couple of others hostage for the next several hours, until finally blowing his own brains out, ending the incident. The three hostages are unharmed. One poetry reading at the library is canceled and another at nearby Just Buffalo Literary Center is moved to an alternative venue.
