This is not a new phenomena for most pastors. The irony in many congregations, however, is that while monthly attendance may be down, the number of persons for whom you have shepherding responsibility may be up. The reason is because the frequency of attendance is so different. When once a month or once every six weeks becomes the norm, you might see a 20% drop in the monthly average. But when the stars align and most everyone decided to worship, then you run out of parking, bulletins, etc. Blaming younger generations or worship leaders does not help. It is a new day that will require new expectations.
