This is not an insult to the mainstream media but it seems most - TopicsExpress

This is not an insult to the mainstream media but it seems most mainstream media in Papua New Guinea have been compromised to go pro government on all their news. You can read propaganda everywhere with Government Ministers and MPs launching projects everywhere but actually after one or two years the projects are still yet to go off ground. I was trained to analyse news reports and media statements to determine whether they are factual or not and to my surprise most times the information and data published are not always accurate. Most times the media reports are biased an misreported. Newspapers dont give factual and real time news sometimes but mostly from secondhand sources unlike the social media. On the other hand, social media has revolutionize the flow of information like never before. Social media provides people with opportunity to express their thoughts and sentiments or comment on certain government agendas like never before. Its up to each individual surfing the social media on the internet to train their minds to accept what is factual and discard what information is not factual. You only train your mind to accept and believe what is true and what is not b y deducing from the posts/articles on the net. The governments shooting of social media is uncalled for. It goes to show that the government lacks media advisers and professionals that can convince the people to believe they are doing all they can to bring the best to the people in a transparent and accountable manner. Presently, the government is not convincing though, there is no transparency and accountability. Theyre using the mainstream media to exonerate themselves and make them look good even though their efforts to convince the people have been very pathetic lately.
