This is not just going to be a landmark climate change series, it is going to be a landmark television series, like Ken Burns’ The Civil War. It is what everyone is going to be talking about from April to June. As the latest international climate report makes clear, climate change is happening right here, right now — in America and around the world. It is the biggest story of our time, and it needs a big platform to tell it. - Joe Romm I just got around to watching this. Its everything they say it is. And more. And less. Why more? Its more important than Cosmos because they stakes are higher and its more topical. Cosmos, like its predecessor, can be shown decades from now and still be interesting. Years of Living Dangerously probably cant be shown decades from now -- if we dont take the subject matter seriously. Why cant it be shown decades from now? Well, that depends on how many decades were talking about. But its beginning to look as though human civilization wont survive many more decades if we dont do something about climate change. Why less? Well, its less than the religion-bashing, panic-time, were all gonna die warning youve been getting from, among others, yours truly. Not that theyve minimized the potential dangers of climate change, but theyve couched them in terms that people can swallow without losing hope. And for those of you who cant be bothered to watch a show without celebrities, not to worry. There are movie stars galore, including Jessica Alba, Harrison Ford, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Arnold Schwarzenegger -- to name but a few. I hope everyone watches this series. Because if something doesnt alert the American people to their peril very soon, it will be too late to ward off the coming catastrophe. If it isnt already.
