This is not meant to be a finger pointing, authoritarian post but just an observation I had today that might help someone else.. So Jack had his first appointment at his new support place and when you walk in there are comfortable chairs to sit in. As we were waiting patiently sitting next to each other I noticed two other young girls sitting with their mums but sitting quite a distance and hey they are teenage girls so I think that is quite normal LOL but what really made me sad was that ALL 4 (2 separate families) were all on their iphones and not once did they look or talk to each other and it made me wonder if this lack of face to face communication is breaking down families and causing depression and stuff in teenage kids. Clearly these young teenage girls are here for help (this place is not easy to get into so they must have deep issues), so I was feeling sad that their mums didnt even get off their iphones long enough to sit and talk to how their girls are feeling at such a time and before they went in to pour their hearts out with their deep issues!! I know girls and boys work differently but me and Jack were having a really great chat before he went in; talking about his dream job and dream work ute LOL and I just feel these mums TRULY could make such an enormous difference in their girls lives by acknowledging them and be there; like BE IN THE MOMENT with their teenager when they are tackling such challengers. Of course there could be reasons why this has happened and I am no mother theresa but I feel that if you have that kind of relationship to be able to take your son/daughter to a supportive place like this then you have some nice thing going on, would be extra helpful to have that communication face to face too xxx
