This is not your regular monster that destroys cities. This - TopicsExpress

This is not your regular monster that destroys cities. This monster IS a city. It is made of silicon and metals. It lurks deep underground, near the magma plumes and geological rifts, where it is believed to cause earthquakes as it moves. But if it emerges to the surface... then it gets much, much worse. It is so hot it can cause fires. It sends forth throngs of mobiles which inhabit its caverns and pilfered buildings, which are usually much larger and faster than a human being, armed with diamond-sharp claws, have bulletproof skin and have a body temperature of at least 120 degrees C. If that werent enough, they emit hard radiation. They dismantle the human city and either convert it into the raw materials for the main nest, or incorporate whole parts of skyscrapers into its body. Worse, the nest itself is alive, or in any case mobile, slowly but inexorably crawling, crawling on, devouring the human city and converting it into an alien one. I had planned two kaijus for this contest, but then had an idea to combine them into one. The moving city concept comes from one, the silicon lifeform lurking near magma chambers comes from the other. The name, Onamazu, comes from the Japanese mythical giant catfish who causes earthquakes when he moves. The pseudo-Latin name means city shaker, destroyer. Ive planned it way back when the contest was announced, but had a major case of back pain while in San Francisco and ended up in bed for six weeks. So much for having enough time to design the creature! Even after that, I could work maybe a couple of hours per day before pain sent me back to bed. So this is perhaps less polished than Id want to, but I was determined to make it on time. :)
